Father’s Day: Love, Dad Romans 8:14-16

In Gethsemane, Jesus called God the father “Abba”, an intimate name, like “Daddy”. Christians liked the sound of that and soon the apostle Paul was teaching about Abba. By the end of the first century, the early church used this name for God in many of their prayers. But who is the God who lets us call Him Dad? What’s He like? Join us Sunday at 10:30 as we get to know our Father in Heaven a little better.

Many at the church at Thyatira were faithful followers of Jesus. They had endured hardship and persecution yet pressed on in their walk with Jesus. But they were tolerant of open sin in their midst and their tolerance was about to become terminal.

Pergamum remains faithful under very tough circumstances though some have returned to Pagan ways. Jesus promises to deal with that if there isn’t repentance. To the faithful, He promises a new name.
